Amulets are protective items in Dark Cloud and Dark Chronicle. These items, once slotted to an unused active item slot, will passively protect the character from a specific abnormal status. Amulets will greatly increase a character's resistance to the appropriate status condition, but do not guarantee affliction and will break upon being afflicted with the relevant status effect. Hence, they are effective for preventing abnormal status, but will cost you an active item slot and do not guarantee the need to not carry any status-curing recovery items. Nonetheless they are recommended to take whenever you are fighting against monsters that easily inflict detrimental status effects.
Amulets can be found by looting treasure chests, by stealing them from monsters, and sometimes left behind by slain monsters. In Dark Cloud, amulets can also be found inside miracle chests in towns, and are also given to the character as a reward by townspeople for completing their homes, but they cannot be bought anywhere. In Dark Chronicle, amulets can only bought from Granny Rosa through Rosa's Amulets, and can also be made through inventing, but doing so is rather cost-inefficient compared to just purchasing them. The max limit you can carry of each is twenty.
